School education for every child
Chimfunshi has maintained a school for many years, which is now attended by around 220 students. About half are employees' children and live at Chimfunshi, the others come from surrounding farms and villages. At the state-approved community school, the children are taught from the 1st to the 9th grade. Those who then have the potential to obtain a university entrance qualification must attend a secondary school outside Chimfunshi.
School fees
The school was originally financed through compulsory school and examination fees in Zambia, as well as parental contributions and donations. In 2022, free education for all was introduced nationwide, and since then the school's operation - beyond the state teachers' salaries - has had to be financed from its own resources. In addition, dozens of new students have been striving to enter the schools since fees were abolished.
Support one of our children who performs particularly well at school
and give him or her the chance of a higher education.
Sponsorship pot
In addition to the sponsorship program, we have installed a general school funding pot with which we try to meet the most pressing financial needs of the school. Donations we collect under the school funding pot are used to expand the equipment and provide the most basic necessities to the poorest of our children.
Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world - most children have no or very limited access to education. We want to help ensure that every child has a chance at education and thus a better future - for themselves, for their family, for the region.
