School education for every child

Where there was no schooling at all until 2010, Chimfunshi has been running the state-recognized Twampane School since 2011, which is now attended by around 220 pupils from the region. Around half of the children live in one of the five villages on Chimfunshi's extensive grounds, while the others come from surrounding farms and settlements. At Twampane School, the children are taught from pre-school to year 10. Those who then have the potential to go on to university must attend a secondary school outside Chimfunshi. The Zambian education system is divided into pre-school, elementary school, junior & senior secondary school and tertiary education.

Financing

The school was originally financed through compulsory school and examination fees in Zambia, as well as parental contributions and donations. In 2022, free education for all was introduced nationwide and the operation of the school has had to be financed from own funds since then - in addition to state teacher salaries.

Expanding and maintaining the school buildings is a huge burden on our budget. In addition, we also finance the other teachers, water, electricity, teaching materials, the school bus and the daily lunch. Many children arrive with an empty stomach and our school meals are the only full meal for them. In addition, dozens of new students have been striving to enter the schools since fees were abolished.

School sponsorship

GIVE THE GIFT OF A FUTURE - BECOME AN EDUCATION SPONSOR!

Become a child's companion on the way to a better future.

Primary School

Attending primary school (grades 1 to 6) is compulsory in Zambia. But many children lack the essentials. Books, exercise books, pens, shoes, school uniforms - there is no money for these from the state, everything has to be financed privately.

With just 150 euros a year, you can help a child in primary school to buy school materials, books and clothes.

Donate a PRIMARY SCHOOL educational sponsorship. You will receive a sponsorship certificate, information about the child you are sponsoring, photos and an annual update on your child's development.

Junior & Senior Secondary School

We want to support every child according to their abilities. We would like to enable successful pupils to attend a secondary school outside of Chimfunshi where they can obtain a university entrance qualification. This is associated with high financial expenditure. First, more books and work materials in the 7th-10th grade, then the transfer to a senior secondary school. Hardly any family can manage this alone.

With 500 euros per year, you enable a committed student to take the path to university entrance qualification.

Donate a SECONDARY SCHOOL educational sponsorship. You will receive a sponsorship certificate, information about the child you are sponsoring, photos and an annual update on your child's development.

College / University

This is Lameck. He grew up on Chimfunshi, attended our Twampane School and then - with the support of sponsors - went to a secondary school outside. Thanks to further support from sponsors, Lameck was able to continue his education and passed the entrance exam at Ziah College - the Zambian Institute for Animal Health. Lameck passed his studies with flying colors and graduated in 2024. We are incredibly proud to have him as the first college student among our pupils. We would also like to give other children this opportunity.

With a sponsorship amount of 1,000 euros per year, you enable a talented school graduate to attend university.

Donate a COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY educational sponsorship. We will contact you personally to select the graduate you wish to sponsor.

Sponsorship pot

In addition to the sponsorship program, we have installed a general school funding pot with which we try to meet the most pressing financial needs of the school. Donations we collect under the school funding pot are used to expand the equipment and provide the most basic necessities to the poorest of our children.

Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world - most children have no or very limited access to education. We want to help ensure that every child has a chance at education and thus a better future - for themselves, for their family, for the region.
