Our mission
Chimfunshi Germany's mission is to support Chimfunshi Zambia's efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for chimpanzees in need; to protect native wildlife in Zambia through conservation, reception, care, and reintroduction; to inspire, educate, and motivate people to work for conservation; and to improve the well-being of local people at and around Chimfunshi in Zambia.
Our aims for
Chimpanzees
- Maintain and expand the chimpanzee sanctuary on Chimfunshi
- Ensure the reception, care, and long-term management of the chimpanzees at Chimfunshi
- Ensuring the continued existence of Chimfunshi in the long term
- Rescue of chimpanzees in distress
Nature & Wildlife
- Protect, record, care for, release and reintroduce native wildlife species in Zambia
- Protection and care of 10tsd. hectares of land, the forest area and watercourse on it
People
- Livelihood, care, and education Chimfunshi of the people living on Chimfunshi
- Promotion of the cooperation of Chimfunshi with international scientists, institutes and universities; networking with other chimpanzee sanctuaries worldwide
