Happy Birthday Ian!

The 25 January is Ian´s birthday: the male is now 3 years old. Ian is one of our chimpanzees you may adopt and support.
Ian was born on Chimfunshi – his mother is Ilse. Ian is very curious, playful and one of our most photogenic chimpanzees – and therefore very popular with our visitors. He is the firstborn of Ilse, who is very shy from humans. Ian comes from an important family line: his great-grandmother was Liza, the first female chimpanzee who came to Chimfunshi and after Pal – the very first chimpanzee – the second animal adopted by the Siddles. Liza was discovered at Zairian poachers and confiscated. She was brought to Chimfunshi, after word had gone around, that the Siddles had successfully nursed back to health a severely injured chimpanzee baby, which they later called Pal. Liza came badly ill to Chimfunshi and it took her a long time to recover. It was also Liza who gave birth to the first Chimfunshi-born baby chimpanzee: Ingrid, Ian’s grandmother. Ian and Liza are spending most of their time with her. Ian also loves to play with his two aunts Innocentia and Ireen. The newest family member is the baby chimpanzee Ida. All live in the outdoor enclosure 1 with a total of 23 animals, including Pal.
